Hi Ms. Baehr's 4th Grade,
We think that it would be really cool to watch that interview.
We have just finished Out Of My Mind and thought it was great!
Spoiler alert! Melony is really cool and she seems nice but its sad that she does not have the ability to talk, we think that her best friend is really sweet! We just wish she could talk because she would say so many nice words!
You should read this book because even though Melony is unable to talk she is still an inspirational and loving girl. This teaches us to just be ourselves. It also teaches us that even with one little problem it can still work out.
We loved this book, hopefully you do too!
I agree Melody is a great person. My class also wished that she could talk. We wish that there was a another book to continue her story. http://www.globalreadaloud.com/2013/11/video-of-chat-with-sharon-draper-gra13.html Here is the link to the interview if you would like to watch!
I agree that there should be another story to follow up her story,
Melody is probably the best book character we have read about so far. We just think that its incredibly upsetting that she cant talk although she has those boards to point at. Thank you so much for the link to the interview, It was really awesome and it looks extremely fun and exiting.
We also wish that Melody could talk. Thank you for giving us the link for the video. We will check it out and tell you what we think of it.
We are also reading out if my mind! At first we thought it was about a goldfish's life! (Well he wouldn't have much of one). The book makes you think about how lucky we are to be able to move around and speak. We have not got to the end yet but are hoping to!!!

Dear Ms Baehr's 4th Grade,
We ate in our classroom once when we went to lunch late so we had to come and eat inside class. I would love to have some background info on Melody. Was it fun to watch the video and learn more?
